"New CCA"

ACI Flatwork Finisher/Technician Certification

Special thanks to Tom Gayton - ACI Illinois Chapter for helping CCA Executive Vice President Don Deetjen and Executive Director Bob Morreale bring the ACI Flatwork Finisher / Technician Review/Exam into the CCA Oak Brook Training Center. It has taken the perseverance of all parties to finally include this very important class as part of the CCA Training Program. With the additional class held on November 3rd over 50 Cement Masons of the OPCMIA were in attendance and were able to take advantage of our local Oak Brook, IL venue. In guiding the masons' review and helping them prepare for the exam, Don Deetjen's technique utilized a power point presentation highlighting ACI's CP-10 workbook chapter sequencing along with insight from decades of Don's own personal "hands on" experience. Joe Balik, P.E. of W R Grace represented ACI to formally administer and certify the ACI Exam process in accordance with ACI policy. Additionally, Joe took a portion of the masons' review time sharing his technical knowledge to supplement ACI's print material along with Don's review process.

If you are a CCA Contractor Member and find yourself in a situation needing the ACI Flatwork Technician Certification for your Northern Illinois District Council Cement Masons, call Bob Morreale to schedule a class. This is just another example of how your CCA membership brings you and your company valuable benefits for the very small CCA membership fee .

CCA members with their invited golfers spent another great day on the beautiful grounds of the St. Andrews Golf Club in West Chicago. As you entered the parking lot there was no mistake what was happening that day. President Aron Olson brought one of the R. Olson big boy toys to welcome the golfers on August 15th. Everyone attending the Annual CCA Goof outing went home with a new wardrobe of CCA shirts and a Rockford Fabricators golf umbrella.

May 2006

The CCA and the concrete industry enjoyed the 51st Annual Smoker at the White Eagle in Niles on May 17th. So many generous sponsors made the event even more fun than ever.

Almost 1000 guests were in attendance feasting on the wonderful corned beef by "Ray Harrington".
